When I started with this idea about doing product reviews, I wanted to start at the beginning. If you know anything about me at all, as a make up artist.. my heart is to teach and educate more woman about make up and skincare. So I hope as we go along this journey, you learn something new.
I am choosing to start with mascara. It's something most woman use. We all have our favorites! I know I do, which is the mascara featured here, Lashblast by Cover Girl. However, let me just state something about mascaras. It has 95% to do with the brush and 5% has to do with the formula of the mascara. Now, if you want to spend $20 or more on a mascara, be my guest. There are some with additives to the basic formula but they end up doing the same thing as their better priced competition.
I am also going to state, the women you see in the mascara commercials, are wearing FALSE eyelashes! Don't be fooled. Your eyelashes will not look like that (unless you apply false eyelashes). I will cover false eyelashes at a later date, and how to apply them.
Lashblast is used by top make up artist EVERYWHERE! It goes on beautifully. It doesn't take a 2nd coat to get the definition you are wanting. I HATE having to apply more then one coat to get nice dark, thick lashes. I need something that is going to work, and work quickly. It comes in many colors, and as a fair skinned red head.. I have been told most of my life to wear brown mascara. Well I don't. And if you are a fair skinned lady out there... you can wear black! Its ok!! I always use black eyeliner and black mascara. I need the definition in my eyes. Now.. read carefully.. you can use black eyeliner and black mascara without looking like "someone punched you in the eye". It doesn't take a lot. A little will do. I use this mascara on 98% percent of my brides. I trust it, I know its going to look beautiful and its not too expensive. It's a product I know, and a product I will continue to use. Another fantastic mascara is Voluminous mascara by L'Oreal. It is another BEAUTIFUL mascara! You will get a lot of height and thickness with this mascara. So try them out!
I would like to suggest general mascara/brush shape suggestions to help you out with what will work best for your eyes. I believe mascara is 95% about the brush!
•If you have smaller /normal/big eyes with full lashes-- Lashblast mascara will rock for you!
•If you have smaller/normal/big eyes with short lashes-- Maybelline Great Lash (the green and pink body)is what I recommend.
•If you have normal eyes/normal lashes that curl well--Voluminous will work great for you!!!
Now what works for me, may not work for you. That's ok! It's about trying things, and being confident in yourself and rocking what you have!
