Do you have painful knots under your skin that never come to the surface? Does your face swell sometimes because of the knots? Are the knots on the lower part of your face and chin? I understand your pain! Cystic acne is usually caused by a hormone malfunction. It's hard to treat due to it coming from inside the body. It's something we have to persevere through and ask your doctor for recommendations and treatment options.
Yes. I deal with cystic acne... Everyday! It's one of the driving forces behind my love of Esthetics and Makeup! I started my journey with skincare in my late teens and have over the years turned my attention to Makeup---still very much in love with Skin! A consistent skin care regimen has been a good practice for me and my skin. I not only have the cystic acne, I'm also a redhead with sensitive skin!
I was recently asked by a "fellow struggler" what I use for my skin. This is what works for me. They are:
Mario Bedescu's Acne Facial Cleanser- it has an exfoliating component and is gentle for the skin.
Mario Bedescu's Rosewater Toner- it's light and calming.
Mario Bedescu's Buffering Lotion- it's a great spot treatment for the deep cysts and prevention of new ones.
Aveeno Moisturizer for calming and/or oily skin. Not everyone with cystic acne is oily so the calming one is great too!
These are items that have worked for me. Dermalogica also has a very good Acne System. I use Mario Bedescu and find it effective and less costly. (Ulta). Since everyone is different, other products may be better for you. Ask your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.
Also....One of my favorite Makeup Foundations for my type of skin is Jane IREDALE Pressed Foundations. They are gentle and recommend by dermatologists. It has always provided good coverage even on the rough days.
As a Makeup Artist, I use several brands on my clients depending on their skin type and celebration occasion! If I have any concerns about their skin sensitivity I know Jane will come through!!
